Panic Attacks & Panic Disorder.
Panic attacks can be a terrifying experience, they seem to happen out of the blue and can last from minutes to hours. It can feel as though you are having a heart attack and have you fearing for your life.
Although seemingly random, panic attacks do have a cause and they can be prevented if not stopped entirely.
What is a panic attack?
A panic attack is characterised by hyperventilation, rapid heartbeat, sweating, nausea and many other distressing symptoms.
When in danger, our brain reacts with the "flight or fight" response. This reaction causes adrenaline and stress hormones to release into the body, readying ourselves for either fighting the danger or running away. In a moment of extreme danger you wouldn't question this reaction at all, it would be the natural response and until you were no longer in danger you might not even consciously be aware of the symptoms.
However, when this response kicks in and there's is no danger present, the symptoms are not only noticeable but completely overwhelming and this is what we call a panic attack.
The problem here is the brain is becoming convinced that you are in danger which triggers this response. This perception of danger from the brain actually occurs on a regular basis for almost everybody just not at the same level as a panic attack. People might instead experience symptoms of; anger; anxiety and even depression.
It's only when the perception of danger reaches breaking point that a panic attack is triggered and it can be the tiniest thing that sets it off.
What is panic disorder?
Panic disorder is the term used to describe the issue of experiencing panic attacks regularly and at any time, not just in the response to a dangerous or a highly stressful situation.
Can Hypnosis help with panic attacks & panic disorder?
Yes! Hypnotherapy can effectively help you to completely stop your panic attacks.
In therapy I help you to understand in detail what a panic attack is and how the perception of danger is created. This knowledge will help you in finding the right steps to move forward from these troubling symptoms.
Hypnosis is then used to calm the mind, reducing stress and communicating with the subconscious, adapting to new ways of thinking and behaving. This process is often called rewiring the brain because you're creating new neural pathways, teaching the brain how to react in a different way
I offer initial consultations completely free and there's no obligation to continue if you don't feel that Hypnotherapy is the best route for you to take.
