This resistance to change is something that smokers will face when trying to quit, or that gambling addicts have to desperately fight against each pay day. It is a powerful force which can feel like we lose control over our choices, but we don't ever lose control. We always have the power to make changes, these things just make it much more difficult for us to exercise that power.
